I know exactly how my patients feel because I was there once in my life with my own fertility problems. It was difficult, and I thought I was never going to be a mother. But I hung in there. My husband was there for support and we did this together. Infertility is not any single person’s fault, it’s something that a couple has to deal with. After a lot of perseverance we had a child, and then we had another. Now I have a 14-year-old who’s about to go to high school and a nine-year-old, and I feel blessed every day. But I remember my struggles. I remember taking a pregnancy test almost every day when I knew that it wasn’t going to be positive because it was too early – but, I was hoping that I could will it to be positive. One fine day, it was. I had to hang in there and not lose hope. That’s one thing that I’d like to convey to my patients - don’t lose hope, there is help out there. Just hang in there.
